Compensation in practice is only possible in institutions that also offer training places for German nursing training (providers or cooperation partners of practical training)
- Inpatient acute care facility: Hospitalswhich
- are recognized as a university hospital according to the regulations of the federal state
- are included in the hospital plan of a federal state (planned hospitals)
- have concluded a care contract with the state associations of health insurance funds and the associations of substitute health insurance funds. (This also includes day clinics and specialist psychiatric clinics that meet one of the above requirements).
- Residential long-term care facilities: including retirement and nursing homes and day care facilities
- Retirement and nursing homes (inpatient care facilities licensed to provide care in accordance with SGB XI) in which persons in need of care are accommodated and provided with meals all day(full inpatient care) or during the day or night(partial inpatient care) under the permanent responsibility of a trained nursing professional.
- Day care (with predominantly gerontopsychiatric patients)
- Outpatient acute/long-term care facilities: including outpatient care services
Outpatient care services (services authorized to provide care in accordance with SGB XI / SGB V) that provide home care services to people in need of care in their own homes under the permanent responsibility of a trained care professional
For the time being (initially until 31.12.2025), the following regulations apply to the area of inpatient long-term care and outpatient acute and long-term care:
- Practical assignments in inpatient long-term care and outpatient acute and long-term care are combined in long-term care.
- Compensation for significant differences in long-term care can also be provided in part (up to 160 hours) in the following specialist areas:
- Geriatrics
- Geriatric psychiatry
- Palliative
- Geriatric rehabilitation
